Hi and welcome!
I’m Martin Andrew, a Yorkshire-based photographer with a passion for storytelling through wildlife, conservation and and portraiture.
The breadth of my work is varied and broad, however, conceptually the themes and connections emerge. The images bring into question the connection between people and their environment whether this is through conservation projects, environmental imagery, or portraiture. The images I create explores meaning, a vision that lies beyond the subjective reality.
Therefore, rather than representing an accurate representation, I represent an interpretation that seemingly looks beyond the observable world where an alternate world arises. That liminal space where reality and imagination coexist creates the sense of ambiguity that raises more questions drawing the viewer further into the images.
My approach to photography represents my engagement with the social environment, often working within those grey areas where any sense of normality is put into question. This often arises within my research, making sense of the social world that is not always easily accessible.
