Case study: Ingleborough Rewilding 30 by 30 Initiative

Overview:
Partnering with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (YWT), their focus surrounds the 30 by 30, an initiative to protect and restore 30% of the UK's land and sea by 2030. Initiated in 2020 the core aim is to reverse the decline of nature and biodiversity, create, restore and connect large areas of wildlife habitats, and address climate change through the improvement of carbon usage, flood protection, and public access to green spaces.

Project:
To rewild Ingleborough National Nature Reserve located in the Yorkshire Dales. This involves volunteers planting wildflowers in the upland plant nursery, these include, Devils bit, Scabious, Water Avens, Ragged robin, and Sneezewort.

The project is divided into two phases:

Phase 1:
Documenting the initial rewilding project involving volunteers and partnership development. The rewilding included terrain preparation by setting the localised survey grids, introduction of the native wildflower plug plant trays and partnership-focused interactions.

Phase 2:
A scheduled return to map the physical transformation of the landscape.

The completion of the project will showcase the trajectory of the rewilding project from start to completion.
